They Might Be Self-Aware

Two figures in conversation surrounded by vintage broadcast equipment, warm amber light, a monitor displaying waveforms between them

Every week the ground shifts.

New capabilities, new questions, new moments where the line between human and machine gets harder to see. They Might Be Self-Aware is two hosts and a producer who won't stop editorializing about his personal life, broadcasting from inside the only story that matters right now. If you've been waiting for a show that sounds the way this actually feels, this is the call.

Portrait of Hunter Powers, Chief Recording Officer at The Blur

OPERATOR 001 · NO DOWNTIME LOGGED

Hunter Powers

Chief Recording Officer

Hunter Powers has been building things with technology for thirty years, leading engineering and AI teams for the last decade, and staying up too late thinking about what all of it means for considerably longer. He created The Blur because the most important story of his lifetime didn't have a home yet. He hosts the way he builds: fast, opinionated, and unwilling to pretend the messy parts are simple.

Portrait of Daniel Bishop, Chief Co-Host at The Blur

OPERATOR 002 · RANGE: UNRESTRICTED

Daniel Bishop

Chief Co-Host

Daniel Bishop is a computational linguist, a VP of AI, and the rare engineer who's as comfortable in a room full of strangers as a room full of servers. He and Hunter worked together at an AI company before starting the show, which means the arguments are genuine and the chemistry was never manufactured. He brings the questions that keep the show honest and the instinct to follow a thought five turns past where most people stop.
